Award winning glamping

Canvas & Campfires are delighted to announce another year of award winning glamping

2024 Red glass dragon award for Mid Wales for Best Glamping. Award winning glamping for Canvas & Campfires.Multi award winning glamping you say? – We are over the moon to announce that we that we recently came home from the Mid Wales Tourism Awards with not one, but two beautiful hand blown Welsh Dragon Awards.

Writing this blog post I feel a little bit like a M&S avert from the noughties, ‘not just glamping but award winning, melt in the middle, luxury glamping’. We’re not very good at singing our own praises but it seems churlish to have won some awards and not shout about them.

We have previously won glamping awards, both the Mid Wales Tourism 2019 award for Best Glamping and the Rural Business Awards for Wales and Northern Ireland but we haven’t entered any awards since before the Covid Pandemic so we were quite nervous about how we had faired.

The Mid Wales Tourism Awards where held in the beautiful Gregynog Hall, Tregynon, near Newtown. It was quite a busy affair with lots of categories to get through. We were up for two Awards, one for Best Glamping or Quirky Accomodation and the other for Best Dog Friendly Business.  We were at a table with our competitors for Best Dog Friendly Business so a little bit of banter ensued!

It was a great event which shone a light on all the brilliant things to do and great businesses in the Mid Wales area. The standard of entrants was really high and we met some really lovely people at the awards. @y_talbot1 @thelodgestaylittle @plasestate @royal_welsh_show @visitwales

We won the Best Glamping Award, came runner up in Best Dog Friendly Business (boo hiss!). We missed out on Best Dog Friendly Business to @plasestate, sorry doggos we will make it up to you with extra scratches and dog treats! Click here if you’d like to check out our dog friendly accomodation

But we also won a surprise category.  Every business that had entered (over 100) had been assessed on their Accessibility and Inclusivity, so when we won that Award we were completed shocked and delighted.  As many of you know we have put a lot of time and effort in to ensuring our teeny glamping site is as accessible as possible so to have that recognised was incredible. To say we are over the moon is a teeny bit of an understatement, and because we won the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award for the whole area we have been put through to the National Wales Awards in March run by Visit Wales.

Click here if you would like to find out more about our accessible accomodation and what we do on site to make our holidays as accessible as we can.

There were fifteen winners in total and we one of three business to win more than one award, and on our table every business won at least one award, I think we were the luckiest table in the hall.

We have some additional judging to get through for the National Awards and a visit from one of the judges so please, please keep your fingers and toes crossed for the Visit Wales awards at the end of March.  We hope we go on to make Ceredigion, Mid Wales and all of you very proud.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make our business a success, especially those who gave us advice and road tested our accessible tents! And thank you to all our lovely customers for staying with us. 🤩

Finally, a huge thank you to MWT Cymru for the awards themselves and all the work they do on behalf of all tourism business in the area.

Ps – the awards are made by Kevin at Delyn Glass and we think they are stunning, his shop is in the Corris Craft Centre so if you are ever in the area do check him out….we managed to get them home in one piece but I think we need a reinforced Glamping Awards cabinet to keep them that way!

Pps – apparently I need to mention Award Winning Glamping one more time to help our rankings, sorry for the blatant attempt to manipulate the search engines!
